tina asked:
Im married to a us citizen for almost four years now, we havent filled my papers yet but now will do, my daughter is not his but he will petition for her as a step daughter. My question is what kind of questions they will ask her? she gets pretty nervous easy, im afraid she cant answer questions right. Also we will go w a attorney hopefully that will make things less stressful for us.
Thanks so much for any answer or advice i sure appreciate it.
God bless!

When they question your daughter their questions will aim to determine the legitimacy of your relationship with your husband. Since many people are willing to pay money to live in the US and many Americans are willing to do just about anything for a buck the immigration authorities have figured out that immigrants have been paying citizens to marry them so they could get green cards and eventually citizenship.

I’m sure that the attorney you will be hiring will prepare you adequately for the USCIS interview.
The only way that I see your daughter being questioned is if there is some suspected fraud. Fraud means that your marriage isn’t a real one but only for the purpose to secure a green card. If that is not you then you will have little reason to worry.
If you have some specific reason why you think an interview might go badly, then by all means tell them to your lawyer.
Don’t forget that under the Child Citizenship Act that your child becomes a citizen when you do. However once your child turns 18, then it’s too late for that possibility.
I’m not sure why you waited 4 years after marrying a US citizen to finally apply for adjustment. You may have had specific reasons rather than just laziness. Please please please apply for your US citizenship as soon as possible after receiving your green card. You may file your N-400 application for citizenship after 2 years and 9 months of the issue date on your green card.
We have no idea what the future may hold for any of us, but it is certain that your child could be deported to a country which you have no longer have any remaining family or any ties at all –even for a minor criminal offense. I have seen this happen needlessly many times.
I wish you well!
