Windows audio tools allow you to listen to your favorite songs on your computer. But there's more to these tools than simply playing your music. You can also convert your music into formats supported by your media player, or you can create and record your own music. While some of these tools may already be installed on your computer, you will have to purchase other programs.
Windows Media Player
- Windows Media Player comes preinstalled on your machine, and you can access this tool from your Windows Start menu. You can set up this system to be your default media player. This means that when you download or transfer music or videos to your computer, they will automatically be added to your Windows Media Player. This player can play most of the major formats, including WMA (Windows Media Audio), WMV (Windows Media Video), DVD, MPEG (Motion Picture Experts Group), AVI (Audio Video Interleave) and CDs. This program also allows you to arrange music based on artist name, album name, song and rating. You can rate any album, artist or song. You may also search for music via keywords. Other features include the ability to sync your devices with the player and burn CDs of music. If the player is not preinstalled on your machine, you may download it from Microsoft or third-party websites.
Avid Audio (Digidesign)
- Avid is a video and audio editing program that is compatible with Windows. Some programs are also compatible with Mac OS (operating system). The Avid Audio Pro Tools allow you to generate audio tracks, and you can also add effects to your tracks, like looping or different pitches. The program also allows you to fix any pitch problems and add prerecorded instrument tracks to your audio sequences. It supports both mono (sound from one channel) and stereo (surround sound) tracks. You may try this program for a limited time, but you must purchase the full version. Pro Tools allows complete home recording for professional and amateur musicians.
ImToo Audio Converter
- The ImToo Audio Converter Pro allows you to convert audio formats into other formats. It supports most major audio formats, including AAC (Advanced Audio Coding), MP3, WMA, WAV (Waveform Audio File Format), APE (Monkey's Audio), FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) and OGG (multimedia container format). You can also extract audio from video formats. Other features include the ability to create collections of music and burn those to CD. You can also rip music from CDs, which means that it will download the music from your CD collection. There is a free trial download version for this program, but the full version must be purchased.
